We already have some minor app compatibility issues between XP and Win 7. The Metro version of IE10 sucks not to mention that the teachers won’t be able to use it because Java and Flash plug-ins are needed for some of the web apps that they use to enter grades, attendance, etc.

Considering that we just replaced all the teacher laptops and just implemented Win7, we not about to buy tablets or hybrids just for Win8.

I don’t have a problem with the start menu changing, but when it becomes almost a secondary OS on top of the “leagcy” Windows environment that has to be explained to users then it becomes a burden I don’t want. I’m a Sys Admin for a school district and while most apps will probably work just fine, there are a lot of apps we would have to test to verify that they work.

I love my GNex, but it does feel a bit cheap. I have a couple spots on the front edges where the gray paint has worn of a bit. My GNex has the same seams as well. I don’t really care bout, I know the phone wasn’t assembled with magic. I don’t really see that as a fault.

The ThunderBolt is on the list and is scheduled for July-August. If that actually happens is a different story.

It has nothing to do with photo-realistic icons. Metro is not good on a conventional desktop environment. I’m not resistant to change, I’m resistant to bad ideas. Metro on the desktop/laptop sucks. There’s no way I would roll this out to my users. The interface is too different and unintuitive to roll this out to 10,000+ people unless we were planning on training everyone. Windows 8 doesn’t provide enough benefits to even consider the cost of licenses and training not to mention testing with our hardware and current apps. Even for me personally, I just felt bad using it. The charms menu is just stupid. 2 different Internet Explorers? Really? Using Windows 8 made seriously consider getting a Mac for the first time ever.

I hate Metro. I have no plans whatsoever to upgrade to Windows 8.

Excellent post. It seems like people want an Apple experience, except that they want it from Google. They want a stock device that gets every single update the day it’s announced. They want the phone to be made with the best materials. The y want Google to exert more control over Android to get rid of skins from OEMs. Guess what folks? This is what you sign up for when you choose Android. Plain and simple. You don’t have to like it, but if you’re not willing to vote with your wallet what’s the point in complaining? We’re going to wait for updates as long as we use Android. We just are. Doesn’t make it right, but that’s the reality of the situation. I personally have come to accept that. I’m to entrenched in Google’s services to jump ship. At least right now I am. If the new iPhone is mind blowing, I may have to reevaluate my situation. Just my two pennies.
