In Canada, pretty much any new plan with any amount of data will have unlimited sms, making IM apps kind of irrelevant.

I hope this is a start of a trend. How cool would it be if every major flagship gets a Nexus flavor?
Maybe they’re in talks with HTC right now.

What phone do you have?
I have a Nexus 4 (Gnex before that), and I bought a Nexus 7 tablet because I already spent a bunch of money on the Play store. My tablet is for running my commonly used Android apps to supplement my phone’s battery life. There aren’t many tablet optimized Android apps, but phone apps scale well to 7 inches.

BB10 OS needs really needs some user adoption if it is to save RIM Blackberry.
Broadly speaking, new BBs aren’t competitive with top tier iOS/Android devices. But if this thing was free on contract, it would be instantly more attractive to phone shoppers at the cell phone store. It’s a distinct form factor, and has some unique features. It would instantly be the best “free” phone.
At 249 on contract it’s really only attracting people who already wanted a Blackberry, which is an increasingly scarce crowd. Blackberry proudly touts that it’s debt free and making (some) profits. Their stock pretty much bottomed out last fall going below company book value, so their remaining shareholders are in it for the long run anyway… They could survive with temporary smaller margins.
I really believe they should swallow their pride and undercut competitors on price if they want BB10 to GTFO into the market. With more BB10 devices in the market, they would gain developer/services support, and perhaps squeeze out some profits on higher volumes. And then perhaps later, after they’ve made a comeback they can release “premium” priced devices. Carriers typically subsidize $400 on contract, and $400 is still plenty to earn on a phone.

It should be 249 unsubsidized and unlocked, then I may consider it. Its not like it has a big expensive screen or killer specs, where is the money going?

I had a Casio remote control watch 10 years ago. I thought it was the coolest thing ever. I memorized all the codes for different TV brands, and I’d mess with people watching TV at school, and those large TV walls in department stores.
Now I want a smart watch with an IR blaster.
