I think Google wants to change people’s expectations out of I/O. This year they had made it clear that it’s going to be a developer oriented event and they delivered. So I think they’ll have the exciting updates in the fall event. That’s also the reason I think they didn’t announce new Nexus 7 and an Android version bump.

Come fall, they’ll have 3 new Nexus devices running new Android OS.

And the fact that they have been able to upgrade so much back-end APIs and stuff without upgrading OS is amazing. They are getting closer to getting rid of the fragmentation issues. All the updates they announced today are available for most Android devices. That’s a huge plus for Android platform.

This is a per-app problem not specific to the OS. For example, GMail does this perfectly. Once you read email on any other device, the notifications go off automatically.

Same logic applies to iPhone also. There is no verifiable data which proves people are buying iPhones because of “small” scree size and not because of iOS ecosystem. If there were different sized iPhones and the most popular one was smaller one, I’d buy your point. But the most popular iPhone is one of the bigger iPhones.

Definitely not true. Galaxy S3 Mini is the #1 best seller in unlocked cell phones on Amazon. Only if Samsung had launched this device officially in the US, it would’ve been a big success. I have one for my wife and she loves it. It has very good balance of screen + power + battery life.
