Every manufacturer has a high end flagship. Acer Aspire S7 is unbelievably thin and light. Lenovo Thibkpad Carbon is high quality and unique. Dell has XPS 12, Asus has Zenbook, HP has Spectre TouchSmart, Microsoft has Surface Pro—it’s more laptop than tablet. Any resolution above 1080p is not a feature if the software become unusable
yeah, but there’s always potential for abuse, which is true of any system. all I have to do is claim that I like (insert blank) and then I could find people who actually like that stuff.
When opening a metro app from the desktop (like when you click on an image/video in windows explorer), it does not return to the desktop (explorer in this case) that launched it when you close the app down (it returns to the metro start instead).
I hope MS finds a better way to handle file associations in 8.1. clicking on a .jpg from the desktop should open a desktop program by default, not a Metro app. changing all the file associations to use desktop programs is key to coping with Windows 8 (unless you’re using a tablet).
Need a quicker way to close metro apps when not on a touch screen system.
dragging down from the top of the app using a mouse/trackpad works fine for me. that’s probably the best you’re gonna get without any “chrome” (aka constantly visible controls)
lol. people do realize that a powerful coronal mass ejection could destroy the entire power grid across the world, right? which means the grid would have to be rebuilt almost from scratch. we would require fuel to power the machines that are necessary to fabricate the components of the new grid and to transport and install the components. this is something that would take decades to accomplish. in the meantime, there would be tens of millions of deaths in the chaos and war that ensues.
to get an idea of how devastating this could be, check out Discovery Channel’s “Solar Storm” documentary.
