Yes, it’s wonderful that Google engineers are seemingly better than MS one’s, with all the bugs they are reporting on a regular basis, but is there a need to be an elitist prick?

Sure it was, but then no one uses Linux on the consumer space so you would really affect a handful of people by publishing a fix that wasn’t properly tested.

Google just launched their music service. Sorry if the selection isn’t as good as Xbox music, the interface is probably better.
But yes, there no YouTube alternative.

That’s the issue I imagine they’re toying with. The expense would be huge.
However, there is the option of a current style AppleTV with a beefed up experience and capability and then the ‘better’ option of having the TV with everything built in.
Who knows. I think it can be done with the right engineering and approach, and if anyone can do it, it’s Apple.

How about MS pays Google to build it? Then MS gets what they want and Google doesn’t lose any money.
Does that seem fair?
If so, I’ll pass it onto the lawyers and we’ll make it happen.
Nice doing business, Mr. Page.

It seems fairly unfeasible given the foothold that Microsoft and Sony have at this point plus the very little experience Apple has in the market.
Well, yes, but then look what happened to the mobile market once Apple got involved.
I realize that much of this isn’t as possible anymore because Jobs’ has moved on, but it has happened before.

Actually, I think it’s the other way round (and this is coming from a mostly anti-Apple user, although I do hold shares in said company).
An integrated experience is what MS is trying to do with the XBO. Now, what would be more integrated than an Apple TV, with 4k and all the regular ‘i’ services built in (runs a form of iOS, Airplay and everything else works with all iDevices available)?
I think that with a single release, such as a TV, Apple could enter the market and be at the same level (or better) as all the other competitors. Mainly because MS is still building their ecosystem in terms of modern age integration – Apple has already achieved this for the most part, and created whole new markets in the process.
Apple’s hardware is just about the best around, and their software is pretty solid too. It’s meant to be idiot-proof for the most part, but it’s why I think you see so many goofballs using Mac’s and iOS.
But an AppleTV with iTunes, sharing and easy accessibility across all the devices in the ecosystem would do really, really well, IMO of course.

Yes same reason HBO would have the right to pull an app that pulls game of thrones from hbo go website or hulu would have the right to pull an app that pulls hulu content and wraps it into an app. There is no difference.
Holy shit, of course there is a difference.
You cannot view HBO or HULU content just by visiting m.hbo.com or m.hulu.com, because those don’t exist.

At the same time, I believe MS has far more experience with optimizing their software to run on specific hardware. You can have all the power in the world, but it means nothing if you don’t have the software to use it efficiently.
Example: WP Single Core devices where highly optimized for the dated hardware they ran on.

They are just finding better ways to enforce this.
