I think theater owners would say that they helped build excitement and legitimacy for the film. It’s something most filmmakers agree with, including Carruth. Everyone wants to get their movies into theaters at some point, otherwise they’re worried they won’t be taken seriously.

Yeah, more accurate to say they’re considering. According to our own Sam Byford, it’s a pretty hot topic in Japan these days.
It would also have some unique effects on the Japanese culture of fan comics, although that’s a whole other story.

Sunglasses will definitely block an iris scanner. It’s also worth saying, the CCTV example Pritikin makes isn’t a real technology yet. It’s a path AOptix chose not to take, to their credit. At the moment, all the iris tech is “participatory capture,” so you’ll only be scanned if you choose to comply, like pulling out a driver’s license.
