I got a 360 (I only had PS3) because of my wife, as she wanted to play the dance and aerobics games, and she loves them (Your Body Evolved and Nike Trainer are amazing). Then I downloaded some Kinect demos for my nephews to try and they loved them (the lil’ ones loved Fruit Ninja Kinect), and their parents got them an Xbox. Then seeing the better Xbox dashboard UI experience, we made it into our main Netflix platform. So I dunno, maybe Microsoft is onto something… But hey, DRM and Teraflops is all there is to it, right?

I bet they are the same publications that laughed at the original Xbox and its chances of success. The media – especially the tech media – are notorious for speaking in sensationalist, knee-jerk reaction terms.

Any news on the future of PS Move and motion gaming? How much will it cost? What about PS4 voice and gesture control?
Reading a lot of the comments, people seem to think Kinect 2 is just a “camera”, and a $60 PS Eye would match its functionality.

Yep, not much perspective going on. It’s unfortunate that the media are all acting like 12 year old fanboys reveling on the “DOA” Xbox One from big bad Microsoft. Even publications like Forbes today are sounding like “hahaha Xbox lost, PS4 wins LOL”. Sad.
The Xbox One does have a series of controversial anti-consumer features that need to be looked at and hopefully addressed by MS. But it’s not like Sony’s new console has a much better value beyond avoiding some inconveniences for the hardcore gamer (which account for what percentage of today’s target market exactly?), or even a decent track record to back up such an out-pour of unconditional support (as a PS3 owner, I simply got tired of their shitty sw, poor spotty services and overall unpleasant entertainment experience beyond pure traditional gaming).
I look around and haven’t seen a single mature analysis of the onset of these console wars. So let’s wait and in a few months come back to these comments and articles and most likely laugh at their silly tones.

I will probably wait until Q2 2014 to see how Sony and MS are delivering on their promises before jumping on either console. I got the PS3 early on because it was the cheapest (and best) Blu-ray player available at the time. Later on I got the 360 because we wanted to play Kinect games, and the media management, app and UI experience is way better.
For traditional gaming alone I would chose the PS4 due to the cheaper cost and more powerful graphics hw. For family gaming, I’d have to go with Xbox and Kinect — I often have family gatherings and the kids love it. For media management and interaction with tablets, smartphones and PC, Xbone all the way, as Sony hasn’t shown a single thing that is compelling in this area. Also, the fact that Xbone is somehow tied to Windows proper, it guarantees a massive support strategy (this is one thing I’ve noticed about Sony — their propensity to drop on their promises down the road). Anyway, I’ll wait and see… whether Sony actually delivers… something, and whether MS’ ecosystem blooms and extends to their console.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much frustration released cased on a single product announcement, at least not since the original console wars. As a fan of neither of the big two, it will be amusing returning to some of these comments after a good years of both platforms in the market.

American kids are already extremely loud. Asking them to scream louder is an affront to their poor parents. This game should come with free therapy and/or noise-cancelling headsets.

C’mon man, iOS 7looks beautiful, even if it’s a blatant ripoff of Windows Phone and Android.
They had to go in this direction or more iOS users would get bored and continue to defect to the fast-evolving Android.
