Large out of focus area at bottom of frame is extremely distracting..

Your kit lens produced some great colors here. The photo appears to be a bit underexposed on my monitor. A way to be sure you expose your photos correctly during post production is to get your monitor calibrated. I don’t edit at 100% brightness.
The composition is great, nice work.

Photo is nice, however there are some things I might have done to make it even better. The branches on the right edge of the frame could be cloned out easily, or cropped, as they don’t add anything to the composition.
Also, when it was composed, it might have been interesting to make use of the rule of thirds for the silhouette of the ground. Placing it along the bottom third divider would have looked really good.
Altogether, the shot is still excellent and exposure is fantastic.
Another thing you could have done is shoot this scene in HDR – thought it would have COMPLETELY changed the shot.

I don’t use UV filters, I am careful and don’t let anybody else handle my gear – not even my 24mm f/1.4L II has a filter, that is a 1700 dollar lens.
As for software, I use lightroom almost exclusively. I used to use Aperture 3, however it was actually SLOWER and CLUNKIER on my mac than lightroom 3.

It’s already been mentioned, but when you buy a camera body you’re buying into a brand. All camera bodies and sensors are pretty much on par with each other at this point, so you really ought to buy what you like brand wise as you will be sticking with it. I shoot Canon because I liked the shape and size of the Rebel XS more than the D3000 at the time, I now have over 5000 dollars of Canon gear. Switching from Canon at this point would be EXTREMELY expensive and, honestly, stupid.

1. What is your Minecraft player name?
sbattey
2. Why do you want to join Vergecraft?
I am interested in building in a survival environment on a stable server, something that is incredibly difficult to find. Also, it would seem that The Verge’s server is friendlier than others I have seen.
3. What servers have you played on in the past?
Empire Minecraft
4. What do you want to work on / build in Vergecraft?
Shelter at first, and then after that who knows,
5. Anything else you’d like us to know.
Keep up the good work, sirs!
