Since the NASA ship requires 6MWe of electrical power, the Enterprise will require 6MWe x 438 = 2628MWe, that is, 2.628GWe. This sets the electrical output power goal for the nuclear reactors for supplying power to the ion propulsion engines and the rest of the Enterprise. (To simplify, it will be assumed that the Enterprise main reactor will be 1.5GWe and each of the two aux nuclear reactors will be .5GWe. GWe stands for Giga Watts electrical power.)
