nope. looking at steve’s life as a whole, he lived like a man trying to make a dent in the universe, not like a greedy man obsessed with money. he lived in houses with no furniture, he collected a $1 salary for a few years, cried when they had to raise the retail price of the Macintosh $500 and lived with his family in normal house in the suburbs.
I doubt iPad pricing was coz steve had cancer and suddenly decided Apple products should be cheaper. The iPad came in at a similar price point to netbooks and seemed to be Apple’s response to the booming netbook market.
Yes Apple’s computers have always been more expensive. but Apple never really positioned it’self as a budget computer vendor and the Apple hardware profits subsidise different types of operations most other PC vendors don’t have.
With iTunes content, most of Apple 30% cut cover the cost of running the iTunes store and the iTunes store is more about keeping customers in Apple’s ecosystem than about gauging customers on content such as ebooks.
