There is no doubt that Apple conspired – when you have an admission against interest by your CEO you’re pretty much cooked. It really doesn’t matter much, the DOJ has already won – by getting the majority of the publishers to settle this pathetic attempt to itunize e-book publishing is dead.

Funny, I travel to Spain and France quite a bit and thanks to the distribution systems there the prices on electronics seem extremely high. Plus every time I go to NY half of Italy seems to be at the Apple store. Price fixing may be absent in the EU but profit margins for vendors is quite high.

Guess you`ve never had Starbucks, or seen a girl lust after a highend purse or owned a BMW. These are all fungible items as are Apple products, it is marketing and slogans that convince people that items that are basically the same confer some sort of status on them because they own them. And there are some quality differences. Wait until you buy a cheap Chinese TV and have a remote that won`t work further than a foot or need tech support.

Sure. As Apple as shown, enforcing minimum retail pricing always leads to lower sales. Oh, wait…. Folks pushing out tons of product doesn’t help the manufacturer if they can`t make a profit. And for everyone who has wondered why they can`t get support on a product or why build quality sucks here`s a hint…if you sell products for no margin there`s nothing left to pay for innovation, quality or support.
