Texters, especially those outside the United States, will do anything they can to avoid paying for SMS when they’ve already paid enough for cellular data
Pretty much every contract in the UK comes with unlimited texts and anaemic data caps, so I really doubt SMS will go away here. I only really use Facebook messenger for group messaging.
