i shudder at the thought of all news being second-hand news.
it’d be like what Andrew Keen said:
It’s like Fox or MSNBC run by amateurs. We all become Bill O’Reilly or Rachel Maddow, curating our view of the world to our friends.

a dev need not give MS anything. you can host the app on the store and use a third party payment system (like paypal).

Microsoft always leaves the design implementation for the end, so i’d expect some more drastic changes between the Release Preview (Release Candidate) and the RTM.

I mentioned this a while ago (as a technical support issue) and the Verge still has done nothing
its not hard, as a non-professional web dev, even I can do it :P

IE 8 and older: that’s correct
IE 9 and newer: HTML5 and CSS3 issues are your fault as the dev.

i really hope that on a meta topic about trolls, it isn’t considered “trolling” to mention who is doing the trolling, after all the OP does, but you aren’t giving him any flack, just me.
that and i didn’t point fingers at any one group, i pointed fingers at all of the three main groups.
PS: in regards to acting like a model internet citizen, my first thought was to say “i will when you do” but that would be a bit trollish :P

IMO Apple v Google and Google v Microsoft seem to be the worst offenders (somehow the Apple & Microsoft people seem to get along better).
For example, if you look at a WP7 post, about half the trolls are Android, the other seem to be WP7 (with a smattering of Apple thrown in there).

even before the Lumia 900 blowout there were increasing numbers of Google & Apple trolls (and of course, Microsoft trolls). If you look at recent “popular” articles, all the various trolls are dishing out pretty well, regardless of initial stripe.
chalk it up to the Verge becoming more popular, thus gaining more trolls in the process.

well, either way isn’t it because of Facebook? Whether it is the Facebook feature itself or all the news stories about organ donation because of Facebook’s move, neither would have happened without Facebook’s action (ceteris paribus).

unless Microsoft has announced otherwise, this isn’t changing the service from P2P to client-server.
I believe the supernodes handle the routing of the initial connection, at which point the call is handed off to P2P. If that is still the case, then this move means that someone can’t deny Skype service as easily, say by simply performing a DoS attack on individuals, now they’d have to DoS Microsoft, which should be a bit harder.

Mircosoft announced that the resolutions for 10.1 & 11.6 inch tablets will be 1366×768, 1920×1080, & 2650×1440.
But like always, it will be up to the OEM to choose which screen/resolution for which device.

1 & 3: All your programs that run on Windows 7 should work on Windows 8. On my Win8 build I have Office, StarCraft II, Skype, etc all running fine. If they don’t, try Windows 7/XP compatibility mode.
The one thing I might stay away from is third party encryption programs, a friend of mine had a problem with that and I could not tell if it was him, Win8, or the software.
2: Yes, you most likely will have to reinstall and start over when the Release Candidate is released, and RTM.

a law against Texting while driving would make sense as you are way more distracted than talking.
anything stricter than that I could not support (after all, what’s next, no talking to the person next to you, no radio?)
