I have no logo in my pants, but stating that Apple has only one phone is wrong! It has a range of iPhones at different price levels…
If you compare the US where subsidies are very important, to a country like mine, where they don’t exist, you understand that an iPhone 4 for 0$ on contract is really not that high-end and in reach for a lot of people, while here you have to pay for a contract anyway and still have to get your phone separately for its full price!
So at least in the US, Apple has a very good strategy because who will get a cheap android when they can get an iPhone for 0$ on contract!
You are also being dishonest when you state that iOS is represented by a single phone while Apple always continued to ship prior versions of its iPhone after the last one was released. In fact Apple has almost an entire range of smartphone (though high-end oriented) covering a wide range of price points, in a disguised manner…
That strategy is Apple’s choice, to keep the best possible margins!
