Yeah, 3G on Sprint has taken a nosedive in Houston too. It used to be that I’d get around 1mbit/sec down pretty consistently, occasionally dipping down to 500 or so in rough spots, but now it’s just sad like you said; I’ll get 300kbit/sec on a good day and anywhere from 50-150kbit/sec in general.
I’m actually holding out on renewing my contract because of this and I’ll wait and see if the promised “enhanced 3G” and LTE upgrades live up to the hype. I certainly hope they do, because I actually really like Sprint aside from these deteriorating speeds over the past couple years.
If Verizon comes through this summer and provides a compelling data sharing package, I may just have to leave. Their 3G isn’t blazing fast either, but it’s consistent and still double or triple the throughput.
