While I agree partially with your statement, The Verge are covering the least interesting aspect about iOS 7. At least with Windows 8, we weren’t treated to article after article about how bad the lack of a Start Button was. They appreciated what Microsoft were trying to do – it doesn’t look like they’ve done the same for Apple here.

No problem, I found it really informative and really appreciate the work Apple is doing on the camera front. While I like Nokia and the 808 style hardware, Apple’s camera has a ‘design honesty’ (no massive hump to show off a disappointing camera) and encourages good photography through intuitive software.
In reply to your article’s last paragraph – a video walkthrough would be awesome!

It’s not that The Verge’s coverage is wrong or bad per se. It’s just so damn banal. As a Windows Phone user I want to know about iOS 7. Where was the interface walkthrough? On Gizmodo. I know designers are mad about the interface but where is the article interviewing actual iOS developers and finding out how they plan to adopt their UIs to meld with iOS 7? Marco mentions it but doesn’t quite have the resources to pull off a full scoop. The photo app looks good. Surely I can find out about its new features on The Verge? Nope, it’s over here instead. The Verge should be covering interesting stuff, instead of syntax and icons.
Interestingly enough, this humourous article seems to suggest that booth babes at E3 are going extinct, but we’re more likely to see an article about white iOS 7 being racist. Or something.

Maybe, but it’s not so severe as long as Microsoft keeps handing out cheques. Also, about the Android argument, let’s remember that Samung’s marketing spend was almost 4 times Nokia’s cash in hand.

Looks better, though I preferred the lighter font (Seguo UI?) for headings.

I think this guy knows a little more than us about what is holding customers back. Is a notification centre a priority? Yes. Are “a dozen little fixes” needed? That would also be a yes. But lack of apps (which includes Google apps) is an instant deal breaker before we even get into app that.
Regarding your “protip”, I never stated the OS didn’t need improvements, but in your haste to latch on you probably ignored that.

Protip: It’s not solely because of the lack of apps that people aren’t flocking to Windows Phone. The OS is to blame as well.

No Instagram or Candy Crush Saga or Pinterest are much bigger dealbreakers than anything you mentioned. So while I agree OS improvements need to be made, the availability of apps is always going to be more important.

So please have something similar for Google (paying someone to keep their search engine relevant, etc)
I get your point for the most part but for this I could easily point to Mozilla and Apple.

The design of this phone is great, if only this had an 808 style camera. It looks far, far better than the 920/EOS in my opinion but I’m going for the phone with the better camera.

Great concept. I’ve really liked the uniform tile colours and how they blend into the app themes, but have to admit bringing over the Windows 8 colours and features makes for a good looking concept too.

A good solution would be to use parallax scrolling on the preset backgrounds. A bit of a complicated solution, but would be positively delightful and flow with the whole Metro thing. This way, tattoos stay at the top of the screen and disappear when you scroll left/down. i.e. you could have a dragon tattoo (like on Windows 8.1) which “flies up” when you scroll down the apps list and reappears when you get to the top.

Looks rough around the edges but the improvements are good and necessary. Not quite sure how you invoke the notification centre, hopefully they make it a simple swipe instead of being different for the sake of it.

Pretty shameful from all parties involved. Plus the presentation looks really bad. Amateur, even. Apple should have sorted them out with Keynote dammit.
