Do you guys even remember that Blackberry had a keynote a day ago? Blackberry is only remembered once or twice a year when it pops its head. With the launch of BBM on iOS and android, their devices will kinda be forgotten.

Well, a lot of normal consumers buy androids and iphone over windows phones because of Instagram. Google’s cloud apps are really that good from search, email and maps. The whole notion of iOS and android needing office is stupid. The .doc and other office formats are international standards. There are many other 3rd party apps that can author office documents. Besides, on a tablet or a phone, you only need an app to modify docs or make simple docs. Office on a desktop is used by a lot of people, but tablet and phone consumer’s don’t need a full fledged office suite because most features won’t be used very well.

By now, most windows phone users should have gotten the message from today’s keynote by Larry, that Google isn’t exactly on good terms with microsoft. The whole marketshare issue isn’t the whole story. Even if Youtube chunkily works on windows phone, there are many other google apps like google now, maps, gmail, google music, google books, google voice, google wallet etc. that might never come to windows phone. Google’s cloud services and apps are advancing at a very rapid pace. Google even bought ITA for $700 million, which has a monopoly on travel searching software. The new maps with travel plans and other information integration is quite good.

Hahah! I agree, that Apple’s web apps and services aren’t that great! But they have some great media apps and I know a lot of users specifically buy the ipad because of them.

You mistake me for a fanboy! I don’t mean to thwart customer choice, but third party clients should abide by google rules and display ads. Metrotube does not display ads. This is wrong. And furthermore, google has shutdown many of its apis or started charging for them. Twitter did the same. They allow third party apps but there are certain rules they must abide by and they must display ads and also have a similar tweet format as the website.

It’s kinda good to be an iOS/iPhone user. While Google, Microsoft and the others fight, Every Major Mobile Competitor Also Makes Apps for iOS.
Apple, by contrast, makes precisely nothing for Android, Windows Phone, or BlackBerry. Not even iTunes, Garageband, iMessage, facetime, imovie, iphoto or anything else..

It’s not google making the decisions but the media companies imposing rules. See, how Aereo is facing trouble with trivial issues about displaying video because it doesn’t go through the middle man. The media industry has so many rules for specific devices and platforms.

Not all youtube videos are able to be displayed on mobile devices! Companies that stream music videos and other stuff have other licenses for mobile devices. There are also country and region specific deals because just like tv syndication, there are deals with made with local channels to show these shows.

The .doc and other office format are international standards. Any company can make apps that author them.

This is not only about lost revenue! It also shows videos that have been restricted from playback on certain platforms — like when a major media company doesn’t give YouTube the right to display videos on mobile phones or tablets.

Well, it’s funny! Microsoft is doing what Samsung did with Apple! Intentionally infringing on trademarked brands or design! Microsoft never got Google’s permission to put out an official Youtube app and much less use the “Youtube” brand name!
