The news hit on the same day that The Verge reported that a new, subsidized Xbox 360 was coming from Microsoft which would require a two-year subscription and provide access to both Xbox Live Gold service and “possibly some additional streaming content from cable providers or sports package providers.”
I’m not sure what that had to do with the news. Tying Major’s Minute to content from cable or sports package providers is a huge stretch.

Google Wave and @futurepaul quitting the internet at the same time? Coincidence?

that’s funny, but irrelevant. I don’t see 3d printing getting much beyond solid plastic objects for a while. i.e., Tchotchkes and toys.

Oh, I’m sure the model would require a license that the kids would have to dig out Dad’s credit card for.
ooh! Another idea! 3d print credit cards! .. that might make the Geode a little bigger though..

I think this could change the toy market. All those little plastic toys you get for your kids could be revolutionized by just downloading the models (or more likely, model sets) and printing them out for them. Cartoons could blast QR codes for kids to plug into their printers ..
When we can recycle/reclaim these items, it will get even better. No more need for giant factories in China pushing out tchotchkes that end up in landfills.
I’m glad to see the price coming down. When it gets to about the same level as a Lego Mindstorm’s set, I think the kids market will really open up.
