Good luck with that. Google has their own websocket solution in Google Go.

Well they already tried blocking google maps access on WP. They could try squashing WP again but that would make Larry Page’s goodwill speech today total BS.

Google tried to block google maps on WP8, then reverted it. It’s funny how as a developer, when anyone tried to switch user agents to a WP, Google Maps stopped working.
There’s no meaningful API’s for WP to create a decent Youtube app like there is on iOS or Android. If fact, the best youtube app for WP MetroTube (which actually is very good) is screen scraped.
Google just needs to say it’s good business to neglect WP. Because quite honestly, if WP gains a significant market share, that’s bad for Google’s mobile ad revenues. And stop hiding behind that “don’t be evil” quote Eric.

Google is not obligated to create any API’s for WP8 and a good way to deter google service users from competition. Here’s a quote from Microsoft:
“Second, in 2010 and again more recently, Google blocked Microsoft’s new Windows Phones from operating properly with YouTube. Google has enabled its own Android phones to access YouTube so that users can search for video categories, find favorites, see ratings, and so forth in the rich user interfaces offered by those phones. It’s done the same thing for the iPhones offered by Apple, which doesn’t offer a competing search service.
Unfortunately, Google has refused to allow Microsoft’s new Windows Phones to access this YouTube metadata in the same way that Android phones and iPhones do. As a result, Microsoft’s YouTube “app” on Windows Phones is basically just a browser displaying YouTube’s mobile Web site, without the rich functionality offered on competing phones. Microsoft is ready to release a high quality YouTube app for Windows Phone. We just need permission to access YouTube in the way that other phones already do, permission Google has refused to provide.”

Actually 3% to 8% annually would be pretty significant. Even if that growth slows to 150% once it hits 8%, that’s 20% share a year later

It’s relative really. My friend was showing off his new Note 2 and I noticed how it would lag at times. He didn’t notice it as much. He came from a Droid so it was relatively smoother. If he came from my 920, he would definitely notice it though.
