Office 15 isn’t in beta yet. Last rumors say it will be released in January. And we didn’t heard of Windows RT being in beta yet. They are only testing it with selected OEMs.

It seems to be Microsoft’s strategy to focus on the consumer market with Windows 8 because Windows 7 is successful and good enough for businesses. Makes sense to me.

I doubt that Windows RT will be ready this year. It will ship with Office 15 integrated and thats expected to be finalized early next year.

I think the concept of a Courier app would still work well. Yes, you don’t have a second screen but on Windows 8 you can snap apps side-by-side.

I will be extremely disappointed if Microsoft will not release a Courier app when Windows 8 ships with at least the basic functionality of their own tablet concept.

They developed a new technology with Windows 8 to render the blurred transparent glass effect without the previously required hardware.
I’m absolutely sure that you will be able to activate the transparent effect on the window chrome if you want. The blog post said that white color is default (Read: not the only option).

If you have 65 apps installed, you should not put all of them on the Start Screen. It is like putting every spoon and pot you own on your kitchen table.
Furthermore, you can group Tiles on the Start screen and name those groups. And I’m wondering why you say that with Windows 8 you are forced to use the UI but with Windows 7 not? You get more options with Windows 8, you can still link apps on your desktop or Taskbar. And the new Start screen is even more customizable than the Start menu: change the size and layout of Tiles, make them update with live information or not, switch colors and so on.
With only little tweaks (adding a shut-down button on the Start screen) I would be very happy even using it on a large display.

Again: This screenshot does not show the Release Preview but the final design!

I think you should read that text again. It says that the Release Preview will not have the final look. It never said that the screenshot is not final!
And having seen some leaked screenshots of the Release Preview, it does look different than that screenshot.
So, yeah, this is the final design.

The solution is so simple: let WinRT apps run on the “classic” desktop!
It wold be great to switch Metro style apps to a “window mode”. Without leaving the app and your work, you could switch from touch mode to a more capable mouse and windowed mode. This would solve multiple issues:
- no redundant apps (IE on desktop, IE in Metro)
- no multiple standard programs (some images may open in a Metro image viewer, others may be opened in a desktop image viewer. Very confusing now)
- improved experience with mouse on WinRT apps
- desktop apps could be created using the new runtime
- the desktop would look more like Metro
- Windows 8 would feel more like one product instead of two worlds inside one package
- Live Tiles, auto-updates, integrated sync for “modern” desktop apps

That is not the current Nokia Maps design. They are now using the new Nokia font and Bing Map’s color scheme.

Hopefully they find a way to link Nokia Maps and Drive/Transport before Apollo is out. It is silly to have 3 separate map apps that can’t talk to each other.

Exactly what I said. The Ferrari is to get some wows and the Galaxy S3 is for the masses.

The thing with the Galaxy S3’s design is that it is not supposed to be for hipsters or people who are interested in trendy designs but for the mass market. Samsung always tries to not have an in vogue design language but a useful nice product design that may look to some as boring but timeless.
For this purpose I think the S3 has a very good industrial design: shaped like the Galaxy Nexus with the same materials like the S2. There are details that are disappointing on this design, I agree (especially the FFC and sensors could have been combines with the speaker on the front).
The best selling car of all time isn’t a Ferrari but the Toyota Corolla. The S3 wants to be the Corolla in the hands of millions.
