It is really fascinating that everything is black and white for you. Were all Sony demos on real hardware? Were all Xbox demos on high-end PCs?
No.

You forget that it’s not all black and white again. Sony has disc-based DRM, Microsoft has chosen a cloud based DRM check every 24h. Both have advantages and disadvantages.
Advantages are that you don’t have to insert any discs after installing a game, that you can share your games to friends online without giving away your discs (no scratches!) and that you can play all your games on your friends console if you log in there.
And keep in mind this is only for disc-based games only! Downloaded titles will have the same restrictions on both systems or maybe even better options on the X1 if you can share those games as well (not confirmed).
And on top of that: publisher can come up with some funny restrictions for PS4 games on Blu-Ray (no matter what they are saying now). And you will be able to resell your used Xbox One disc based games. Just not at every retailer. I personally don’t see the re-selling restrictions as a big issue. We see that even new games get some good deals on Xbox Live already.
Dealers/retailers will make less money with used games and that’s a good thing IMO.

A lot of iOS apps look more like iOS 7 than iOS 6 before it even was announced.

I don’t believe that games will be cheaper because of the DRM.

I saw it after the editing time ended. It was meant to be a funny command because this discussion is way too serious IMO. The number of announced games isn’t a real issue, nobody buys every game. That’s what I tried to say.
If there is one or two games you are interested on one platform, you may invest in a new console even if its $40 or $100 dollar more expensive and (maybe) have graphics that may technically less amazing. At the end its about the games, what your friends are playing and the services you want.

This competition is not black and white. I don’t expect a clear winner or loser. Both new systems are great they just have a different focus. And we all know that Microsoft has done a terrible PR job. That’s not the first time. The actual product is better than the press may suggest. The prize difference of $40 or $100 if you compare the starter packages isn’t a real issue either. If you want the games and the services on the new Xbox and continue to use your existing profile, this is not a deal breaker IMO. Both starter editions where already sold out on Amazon.com. Sure that doesn’t mean much but both companies will make a lot of money.
I also agree that the 360 has more potential to stay relevant than the PS3.

BTW some of my 10 year old CDs aren’t readable anymore and BluRays are even less long living.
A bright future ahead! ;)

Yes it is a bit cheaper and yes the hardware may be more capable (doesn’t mean that games have to look better). So what’s your point? I don’t understand the outrage.

Or maybe they have a simple solution when the One gets out of business.

I don’t want to defend this man but to be honest his statement was quoted a bit out of context. They launched a new Xbox 360 especially to focus on more emerging markets where a lot of people don’t have internet yet. I don’t see the problem here, he is right. Who does buy a 500 dollar next-gen console without a decent internet connection?

Please don’t be silly. The different internals don’t make a real difference on how you can use the product in general. But the cam enables you to even do video calls. If you don’t want it, don’t buy it.

I see the problem that Apple is facing with redesigning the icons: how to find a unique style? If they are doing them more realistically they would look like on Android, if they are more simplified they will look too similar to Windows’ iconography. Your design looks very close to Windows 8’s style especially settings and Game Center.
I think Apple should only change minor things and improve on their style.

With the smaller and larger Tile sizes that will come with Blue, the Start Screen seems pretty complete then. Now it is up to the app developers to come up with new ideas how to use Live Tiles. I’m using a clock app for instance that works perfectly.
Instead of adding even more customization options, Microsoft should focus on reliability of Live Tiles. It still happens that info isn’t up to date or that you launch an app and you see old information.
It should be possible that an app can get data right from the Tile. Example: you have a Weather app tile for London and it shows 23°. When you launch the app you may see an old temperature (20°) until the app has gotten the newest data (24°). In the worst case you see three different temperatures. The app can’t get data from the Live Tile service. I hope we will see more improvements here.

But this is a terrible example of a “modern”/“metro” design. The old Zune client was a better example where the headlines were the menu.

I’m not a fan of the new Xbox Music app layout. It is similar to Mail but for a music app this doesn’t seem to work well. Too much focus on UI.
The new Store looks much much better but why did they got rid of the brand color for every app? I thought that was a good idea. That’s typical for Microsoft, instead of just improving they remove some good ideas they already had.

Everything is possible from a technology perspective obviously. But the new services will only come to the new products. And I can imagine that the Windows kernel always running in the background helps to manage some cloud stuff.
There is a huge difference if you just broadcast a game to other people to watch or if you stream a game to your console. One needs a much faster response because your interactions have to be send to the servers as well. Onlive and Gaikai already had such a product. I already tested Gaikai last year. It is nothing new and hasn’t worked well enough yet.

You mean such a power port?
I would be very surprised if they managed to implement the power supply into the casing. Both consoles have pretty much the same components (BluRay, HDD).
Not much room is left inside the XB1 and the PS4 is even smaller:
