I don’t think so, at least Google never said anything about it. They cooperate with the Nexus OEM, but I highly doubt they give them insights into the code before release. Galaxy Nexus was quite a fuck up from the start, that confirms my theory.

Google should develop Android allowing vendors to access it via repositories. Kinda open like CyanogenMod, but only for specific vendors, that pay the Google Apps fee.

It’s funny though how no one manned the pitchforks when Google started to push Google+ down our throats, which also has an extra Messenger icon (which doesn’t talk to desktop), or Places, Latitude & Navigation (although Navigation is disabled in many countries).

Android app improved A LOT. It seems that they’ve done some heavy polishing in the web view back end as well, so the changes aren’t always so obvious with a Store app update.
