There’s actually a huge silver lining to all this, if people can calm their kneejerk reaction and look at the possible chain of events. From the perspective of 90% of the country who want background checks, the NRA is the one and only thing standing in their way. Those same people are likely going nuts with fear over these 3D printed guns, as if they’re going to make everything a lot worse. But the NRA is in a real bind here, and that’s a good thing. They HAVE TO support this, even though it’s going to piss off their biggest clients if it gets any sort of traction. So, listen for the big murmur over the next couple years, and watch the NRA turn around 180º on background checks, and anything that will ultimately keep control in the hands of gun manufacturers. You may think these 3D printed gun guys are totally evil, but in reality they’re like computer hackers who expose vulnerabilities and in the end have the potential to make everything safer.

LA based, Swiss-American photographer Peter Bohler made an award winning editorial documentary of Fort Irwin. I saw it in Zurich when he won the Swiss Photo Award in 2011. Very nice http://www.peterbohler.com

That’s why government regulators need to step in here. The same thing was said about seatbelts and airbags.
It’s a ridiculous argument in any case. The premium for this tech included (if it isn’t eventually mandated) would more than cover the liability for the occasional malfunction, and legal costs of investigating incidents. And there would certainly be an impetus on the user to also make sure the blade guard is in place, saw maintenance schedule followed, etc. I doubt many cases would make it to court, and a payout for actual malfunctions would be minimal. In short there is no excuse for not implementing this in all table saws.

Just remember boys and girls, no matter what exciting things Larry Page says to get you all revved about the future, all he wants is ad revenue via your personal details. It’s all about gathering personal info and selling ads.

I suggest everyone who doesn’t like this latest move by Adobe to help flood their inboxes with feedback. I bet we can get them to change their tune.

I’m going to start using Pixelmator. It’s too bad though, I’ve been in this love hate thing with Photoshop for so long, I’ll miss the old girl.

Not at all true. Everyone who chose to buy the full suite rather than the subscription will be missing out. That was their choice, and it’s being taken away.

Exactly Adobe is nudging the little guy out. I need the entire CS, but certainly not all programs all the time. Mostly always Photoshop, often InDesign, sometime Illustrator. Rarely everything else. So now what? I’m not paying monthly for the whole suite. But what happens when I need them? Not having an option for occasional users is bad bad bad.
Adobe just keeps giving me more reason to explore the competition.

I’m all Pro Israel and everything, when they’re being harassed, but this is total bullshit. Too fucking bad, get over it. I’m also Pro Palestine. I fit into a duality with ever growing numbers – the one where everyone has equal rights. The Israeli govt needs to go down a peg or two.

Bullshit. When the smoke clears, email is still the best and most reliable. Everything else is just interim SMS proxy.
