The statement said, legal issues aside, it is up to developers themselves to decide what crosses a line and ventures into cloning territory.
This is a candy-coated way of calling out the folks behind Papa Quash on their bullshit.

So is this the project they were raising funding for on Kickstarter, or what? Given everything, it might be helpful to clarify as much.

Fine by me. I’ll continue to buy products online, made by manufacturers who don’t enforce this. The most bang for the buck for the lowest price will win.

Finally seeing this film roughly two years after getting it up and running on Kickstarter felt like meeting up with an old friend who’d I just stopped talking to.
The film only has success to blame for taking 2 years to reach my town, which I guess I can only be happy about. I just hope its continued success doesn’t extend the amount of time it takes for the film to reach accessible distribution means (like Netflix or an affordable download option) so that I can recommend it to friends.
Great film – powerful stuff.

The shape of this thing’s hull looks to be about as efficient as spending 260k on a silly carboat thing.
I do like how it’s built with features to match your asshole personality – like the ability to churn up a ton of wake at the marina.

Keep in mind that this mission is heavily sponsored by NASA, including use of NASA facilities to get it up and running. I also wonder how much, if any, direct cash NASA is injecting into the project.
We’re a long ways off from private companies even being allowed to build and operate their own facilities with their own money and people – look at how slow Virgin Galactic’s project is moving.

I’ll bet they’re bleeding off supplies of DS components. Once they burn through parts & components at a lower margin, they can start shutting down the DS supply chains. With all this talk about handheld consoles being a niche market, it’s not a good time to manufacture three of them.

This is smart. Cheap point-and-shoot cameras are going the way of the dinosaur, replaced by mobile handsets that can give similar image quality but with more features and sharing abilities – convergence running its course. Look at how fast mobile handsets are catching up to point and shoots – at this rate, the leap won’t take long.
Anyone who wants to take pictures that exceed a mobile phone’s capabilities will need something substantial but inexpensive. That’s where cheap mirrorless comes in. Bringing shallow depth of field to a cheap sensor isn’t hard to do, and the effects and zoom lenses will make people think they’re taking better photos than phones can provide.
Mirrorless compacts will only be driven down in price over the next few years until they’re sitting in point and shoot territory. We’ll $199-$249 mirrorless compacts with wifi, facebook, instagram, twitter etc by holidays 2013.
