How much is MS paying you to defend them?

So you would rather every developer just implemented an online pass? That’s what this is about, its not a money grab from Sony or Microsoft. Its developers wanting money when people play their games secondhand instead of it going to gamestop.
Steam helped saved consumers from ridiculous things like excessive DRMs (they where out of control about 5 years ago) because developers started getting a better return. You may hate it because its more expensive than buying used games, but its better for the industry and developers, developers, developers.
If new consoles allowed complete freedom of used games, EA, Ubi, Activision, etc would come up with as many ridiculous ways as possible to block used games, online passes would be part of single player games very quickly. Everybody loses then.

Maybe its because I use Steam a lot, but I just don’t understand this argument. I buy games, they are locked to my account, wherever I sign into said account I can access my games.
Gamer’s love Steam, but hate Microsoft… its the same bloody thing! Times are changing.
I buy my classic games from http://www.gog.com/ shit, wait… they are linked to my account too. The horror of it all.

People love to hate Microsoft, especially on The Verge! If Microsoft do screw up with DRM then I will be the last to defend them, but they haven’t screwed up yet.
I do find it amazing how bad they are at PR though. They need the old “no comment” sometimes.

I honestly don’t think Microsoft even know the exact details. You would think tech sites would understand that software is fairly easy to change at a late date compared to hardware. Its a work in progress, and hopefully they get the balance right.
Just wait… Its not like you can buy either a XBO or PS4 atm.

Impossible to know until after E3, I am leaning towards Xbox as my PS3 experience hasn’t been all that great. As a media device the PS3 is pure shit, hopefully XBO can replace my WDTV.
Most games I will still buy on Steam, but some games, mainly racing, fighting and 3rd person adventure games like Uncharted and Tomb Raider are much better on a TV.
Of course if Sony announce a new Uncharted I may be bullied into getting a PS4.
