For notebook, its really light, but its meant to be used as a tablet as well. In which case, its a brick, and you said, its two iPads. (And 3.5X of the original Galaxy Tab that I have in my hand).

Wait, whats a pound:)
Its a brick because you don’t hold the Macbook Air on one hand like you would a book. Then try to operate the touch screen with the other. After all, its suppose to be a convertible tablet right? You might be able to use it for ten minutes, twenty minutes at a time, but you wouldn’t be able to use it for extended periods. I’ll suggest the current crop of 700g to 800g tablets is probably the maximum usable weight.

1.4 kgs light? It will be like a brick in your hand, and you suppose to use the other to touch the screen. Do they even actually try and use their products?

Even if they are a commodity, do they really need a million and one lines of product. Compete on price all you want, but simplify your lines, increase economy of scale.and efficiency and use the savings to make the remaining products more competitive.

Apple is a cult, Sony is not. To get away with what Apple is doing, you need a strong brand, excellent products and customer service, and most importantly a unique offering.
Apple is the only maker of Macs and iDevices, and while there are similar devices in PCs and Droids, they are still quite different. Sony on the otherhand makes TVs, Samsung makes TVs, Visio makes TVs, LG makes TVs, and there isnt really a strong differentiator for a customer to pick one brand over another.
If Sony really want to differentiate their TVs, they should have released something really exciting first, then enforce the minimum pricing. Because what they have done now is enforce a high price in a commodity market.

Its huge but it also supports the phone when docked. Quite a few docks uses the connector to hold the phone, they might have a cradle but I reckon most of the weight is transferred through.the connector.

“Retina” might be more of a marketing term than a technical one, but I thought its pretty much a resolution density where you can not perceive individual pixels at normal viewing distances. While this is a fairly vague and broad term, and Apple could still apply it to the 4 incher, but its still going to be a tough sell against the current crop of Androids.

I am ok if they kept the same resolution at four inches, people dont look at their phones with magnifiying glasses. But it will be a tough sell as retina display though.

I had a Dell Precision back in 05, and the 1920×1200 was just beautiful. However, some coworkers that uses the same laptop was complaining that the icons and texts were too small. So I think high res display was never really appreciated because Windows don’t take advantage of it as well. Once you start enlarging icons etc in XP, its starts to look weird, and not everything scales properly. So people got used to the low res displays with “large” icons.

This is a square slab compared to the curved lumia. As far as resemblance go, its a plastic phone with a touch screen, it has got a striking color and black bezel around the screen. On some level its similar to lumia but then so is the one x.

I think this phone is just the test bed for the camera. Symbian is a way more mature OS, and it would have been easier for Nokia to put it on a Symbian rather than Meego.
