Is that….Was that a stealth burn? I’m so used to people ragging on me for using T-Mobile that I can’t tell.
But seriously, I do get between 7-9 Mbps down in San Diego. Which, unless you’re streaming HD video, is more than adequate.

Do you really need LTE, in practical terms?
I just got a Galaxy Nexus, use T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network, and it’s faster than my cable service was a few years ago.

I was under the impression that Apple had patented a specific implementation of the feature which HTC’s email client, but not the one in stock Android, had infringed.

And yet, HTC could sidestep all of this by using stock Android on their devices.

Maybe. But it would have to be Deutsche Telecom stock if they did. T-Mobile isn’t publicly traded as it’s own entity.

They (the networks who own Hulu) absolutely get it. They’re trying to kill it. Anything to get people watching stories on the picture box again.

Let’s stick to actual examples instead of the near mythical “lone genius” inventors. Very little innovation happens in a vacuum like that anymore.
And it’s almost never the idea, it’s the implementation. It’s why people still adore BBM despite other options that essentially do the same thing.

Look at the fashion industry, which has no copyright or patent protection. It moves with incredible speed as everyone tries to outrun the cheap knock-offs of their designer clothes. And they’re still massively profitable.
If Chuck Schumer gets the “fashion copyright” bill through that he’s been pushing for years, that innovation would cease almost immediately. Monopolies slow innovation. And that’s what copyright and patents are.

Innovative framework of the iPhone? What? Maybe I’m caught up with the specific language you’re using, but Google and Apple are basically playing leapfrog with each other (and a few others to a lesser degree). Neither product would be where it is today without the other to push it along.
And to your framework point. At launch there was little difference between the iPhone home screen and the Palm OS home screen that had been in existence for more than a decade. I’d argue the original notification shade, app drawer, and widgets of Android were more of a departure from Palm than what Apple did.

Exactly. And the iPhone 3GS was a direct response to the G1. Innovation moves significantly faster if all the players can freely copy each other.
