Um, what?
Don’t get carried away, the best hope we can pin on this is that space exploration will continue in spite of broke governments.
Also, just low Earth orbit? The final frontier may be a lot closer than you think. For example, we know a lot more about the topography of Mars than that of the bottom of our own oceans, by orders of magnitude.

Makes perfect sense, they’re building a gulag. The name “Sea of Tranquility” will strike fear into hearts of Putin’s enemies. Just like “Guantanamo Bay” does for the enemies of the American empire.

Nice to see that Windows boots real fast now. It shows that Microsoft is focussing resources correctly, In contrast to most other OSes with Windows the reboot time is really important.

What I want to ask you is: would you agree with John’s example above?
Yes, the arithmetic seems to work out. You have to be careful with what you mean by “able to resolve 100 dots per degree”. Usually that means 100 black/white dot pairs, i.e. requiring twice as many pixels as black dots.

Well, thanks for explaining to me what I said just before. Not sure why you deny that “Retina display” is about resolution, though. My guess: the word “resolution” is used to refer to three distinct things, and that confuses people:
- linear resolution – the number of pixels, lines or line pairs per unit of length (usually inches or millimetres)
- angular resolution – the number of pixels, lines or line pairs per unit of arc (typically degrees)
- the size of a display or sensor in number of pixels length and width wise (expressed as L x W)
The first two are directly related via the viewing distance. The last is really a misnomer, it doesn’t talk about resolution at all without knowledge of the physical size (in millimetres or inches) of the display or sensor.
The term “Retina display” is all about angular resolution, as I thought I had made clear in my second paragraph above.

They take inert gases and heat them up with microwaves. It turns the gas into a plasma as hot as the sun. They funnel all this heat through super conducting magnets.
Sounds like nothing can possibly go wrong there.
