There is no waste, it’s not like Google Wave was a complete waste of time and money, a good part of what they developed and learned from it were spread across other services, Glass may end up being useless, but it will certainly not be a waste like the end of the article implies about the “unsuccessful” experiments.

exactly! parameters! parameters are necessary to put things in perspective and The Verge has not being doing that at all, bashing Wii U over and over, what’s with that?
I’m not Wii U owner and I don’t think I’ll be one but the lack of better analysis on the Wii U matter here on The Verge is quite annoying.

I completely agree with you. I can even add the Microsoft + phone app as a answer to Wii U gamepad. Nintendo outside the box way of thinking is very needed, if not look at Hollywood and their stagnant creative engine. Today we take the Wii Remote for granted but it totally changed the way we think and do videogame interaction.
Also is a fact that Nintendo took way too long to acknowledge the power of the Internet and that if they didn’t use it with the importance it required for the past2 generations, yeah, it will be harder to get it right from the get go. Nintendo is basically paying for being to stubborn, I know that doing things in Nintendo’s way got some things right, but some other times, it don’t.
The hating on Nintendo is part of today’s disease, people don’t have any patience nor memory, they want everything now and it’s always apples and oranges when they get into an argument.
Did Nintendo promisse more games? Yes, they did, bad mistake since this has been a common place for Nintendo’s launching window for the past generations. Is Nintendo stumbling with their OS? Yes, but they are showing the necessary effort to correct it and that’s quite important. But nonetheless it’s way too early to set anything in stone, people forget how the PS3 took 2~3 years to start to get things right, people forget how so many analysts and consumers panicked with that and today, people don’t even talk about that, The Verge has completely forgotten that, they never touch that subject to put things in perspective when they talk about the Wii U. I remember how people used to compare the PS3 initial failure with the PS2 success, Wii U and Wii, anyone?
Can Nintendo fail miserably? Yes, they can and they will if they can’t turn things around or if PS4 and the new Xbox is just too much for the Wii U. The Wii U pad is nowhere near as innovative as the Wii Remote was, it won’t sustain the console by itself, Nintendo made a bet when we talk about the graphics and CPU power and it depends on Sony and Microsoft.
How much power and how much will the new console cost? If every Xbox will come with a new Kinect, that’s not much different than every Wii U having a game pad, if every PS4 will come with a PS Eye, that’s also not much different. On top of that Sony and Microsoft are putting more CPU and GPU power, so how much will this cost? It will not be cheap, for sure. How much will that affect everything?
Nintendo got to step up and speed up the console’s library, that’s for sure. If I was Nintendo, by the end of the year Holydays, it would be wise to get the price down to compete with the arrival of the new consoles.

Renaming burgers are totally irrelevant, like several others things through out history, after some time, it becomes just a name, it has a meaning in itself and the real origin of the name is lost and it becomes one of those things that when you realize where did it come from, you find it funny.
here in Brazil, it’s called “Quarteirão” which would bi something like big quarter, almost no one knows it has to do with eright of anything, actually we have a more common use for the word “quarteirão” which would be street “blocks”. So, in the end, the burger will be called Quarter and nobody will care if it’s about a unit system that is no longer used or not, it will become a curiosity.

I think that Nintendo is really paying for neglecting some features that have been standard in other consoles and platforms so they are having a harder timing to get things right.A;so, they are not delivering all those “quality” games as they promissed when they launched it. But I like the fact that they are putting a lot of effort in trying to address the problems, which is very important.
The Verge, on the other hand, they have been hating Wii U since the start, if you search for Wii U stuff here, you’ll find a negative point in every single article, even the articles when they are supposedly talking about something good. If someone doesn’t like, it’s ok, but whenever The Verge talks about Wii U, they never use a more neutral parameter, they carefully selects the facts and data that back their arguments up and that’s it. They talk about the Wii U slow start, but they didn’t talk about what happned to the PS3 and so on.
I’m not a Wii U user or even PS3/Xbox one, but I like to keep track of videogames and noticed how negative the overall stories about Wii U are on The Verge.

You are simplifying this too much, it’s not just a matter of bigger, better and its also not as simple as it doesn’t cost so much more, Video Game is not a PC, it’s a device fully optimized for games, there are so many other reasons PC needs more RAM. In the end, it will all come to how much the PS4 will cost, if they could, they would make it more powerful, but it’s about balancing everything.

You should also consider the Fuji X20, which is also unique in its own way, since it has a OVF with electronic information overlay. It also has very good optics, a nice X-trans sensor and a very fast processor which helps in the AF speed – with the in-sensor phase detection pixels -, burst mode and other little things. Oh yeah, you get a very nice B&W and Fuji Colors!

Look at this as a series above the LX, same sensor size, probably even same sensor as the LX7, you gain a EVF, which is pretty unique in its class, WiFi/NFC connectivity, a sleeker camera and a longer zoom – at the expense of a less brighter aperture, even more at the tele-end, where the LX7 have a MUCH brighter aperture from wide to tele.

It means it’s a 3x crop factor for this camera, since the Super 16 size is even smaller than the BMCC. This means that it will be harder to get wider angles, you will have to use a m4/3 ultrawide zoom like the Panasonic Lumix G Vario 7-14mm f/4 will be equivalent to a 21-42mm in FF, while in m4/3 it’s be equivalent to a 14-28mm in FF. And of course, it will be harder to get shallow DOF and bokeh.

It’s not about simply them being innoncent or not, it’s also about judging, for instance, the mother, “oh she is defending just because she is a mother” or “she doesn’t even look upset for someone that lost her son” and so on. People saying all of that like they know anything, which they don’t, it’s just stupid, it’s a bandwagon shallow type of comment. Even you, saying like it’s so obvious when there are also evidence telling otherwise, so no, it’s not obcious. Just because you read somewhere doesn’t mean it’s true. This is not even about being skeptical just for the sake of that, as if being skeptical is a bad thing, well, actually it’s as bad as being delusional, anyway this is about thinking and weighing a bit more before carelessly making claims like you know it all and everything is written in stone.

How are some people here saying like they are sure of what happened, that the mother this and that or anything else, making assumptions like they know it all and have everything figured out? Calm down, let it all unwrap before assuming or claiming anything.
