I couldn’t find an image of one. Is that a specific thing that fits onto it, or do you mean a mouse mat with a wrist support. If it’s the latter I’ll be sooooooooo disappointed.

I’ve worked it out. Newer versions of Android make you tap (is it the about?) button a bunch of times to open up the Developer Options menu.
THIS phone has an older version of Android, so maybe it doesn’t have that problem.

There should be a “beyond recommend” button for stuff so good that merely recommending it is inadequate. I’d click it for this post.

The S4 is 1080p, which is why I mentioned it in particular ( As is the HTC One, but it may sell fewer units), although, as I say, you’ll need lots of phones if you feel the need to cover even the common resolutions, with a physical device.
locked down, inflexible and thus developer hostile
I don’t know what this means so far as application development is concerned.
I guess that getting root, and therefore database files off the S4 may be a small pain, but that’s it. Even then, if you’re not writing something massive you can check all that it working using an AVD.
If you want to play with ROMs it might be good, but that’s different from being an Application Developer.

Unless you have access to a lot of phones you won’t cover every resolution.
Frankly as a secondary phone, a Galaxy S 4 would be more relevant.

I’d start on PHP. You can fire out some quick dirty scripts, to get started, AND you can do proper OOP stuff too.
Plus you can get a job as a PHP dev. Can you program sir? It might be cool to learn with him, if you can’t yet.
There are two sorts of people, those who can program and those who can learn to.

I don’t get why someone would get this over a Nexus 4. Especially someone who develops applications.

. If anyone can think of a better way, I’m all ears.
Mount the buttons on the bottom of the device instead of the front? I kid, I kid.

You’re rich btw. So am I, what with the literacy and the internet access and so on.
On the OP, I wouldn’t mind more capacity on my Galaxy Nexus. I don’t really want it on an SD card, but now that I’m using it for music, it’d be nice if I could just dump everything on there without having to do cloud stuff, relatively seemless as it is.
Impart from that, a better screen I suppose.
If I had a Nexus 4 it would only be capacity. If they bring out a 32Gb one I’ll be tempted even though it’s probably not something I have a massive need for.

Do you think everyone should just have tablets?
Good luck developing for a tablet on a tablet. That’d be amazingly painful

Oh be nice. I figured the OP was written in a way consistent with “retina” being a specific sort of technology or something, which it isn’t quite.
I’m not exactly sure what is douchy about pointing that out.
I am sure exactly what is douchy about swearing at people over the internet though.

In terms of appearance, this …
In terms of utility, that ridiculous USB cable and port with the tiny notch in it, which is used for keyboards
Just ridiculous.
Best? I like that iMac with the big round base and the monitor on the swivel arm. That’s cool.

I missed the edit timeout, but I mention the VAIO S because I bought it with similar things in mind to the things you have in mind, so it’s worth considering.

Get a high resolution. Software development, particularly eclipse, at 720p is a horrible experience. Honestly I’m surprised that people are recommending the macbook air. It strikes me that even 900p will be horrible for eclipse. programming on a 13" display is a joke. Go 15".
ALSO, if you are replacing your desktop with the laptop, keep hold of your 2nd monitor. It is much better to have two monitors than one.
I’m running a Sony Vaio S series, with a 1080p screen and a keyboard with a number pad and home, end, page up and page down buttons. Full keyboards are great.

I’m glad you like it. The term “retina” though is just marketing speak for “resuolution that’s such that you can’t really see the pixels at the distance Apple expect you to use the device at”. It doesn’t represent an innovation per sé. It’s just a higher resolution screen.
Will agree though that doubling the dpi between the iPhone 3GS & 4 made the screen on the 4 pretty awesome though.
