Thanks for sharing. I admit I am surprised at the fps of Darksiders 1, considering I own it for Xbox and never had an issue with fps. Though reading the article, they explain the game gets to 60fps in some locations, the eye finds it really difficult to tell the difference between 40fps and 50fps and etc.
The article continues to explain that the game would nearly hit 60fps in some areas, but watching the video, the game hovered at 30fps and would dip to 20-25fps on the most intense areas. Naturally, the “new patch”, practically turned on V-Sync and that’s why you get an fps cut in half (maxing the game at 30fps to reduce tearing).
Again, “hovering in the 10 to 20 frames-per-second range” just doesn’t seem likely. Admittedly, I haven’t played the game, I don’t know, everyone’s eyes are trained differently. I think the game is probably running at 20-30fps, after reading that article, they likely are using the same way to cap fps, and likely capping it at 30fps, and I have a hard time thinking developers are letting people play the game that unoptimized, even though the gameplay videos seem to run great (http://www.ign.com/videos/2012/04/07/darksiders-ii-au-video-preview).
Anyways, it stands that I haven’t seen the game and if it is running at 10fps, they have a lot ahead of them and is no wonder they pushed backed the release date.
Thanks for the Darksiders update.

While a lot of the information above isn’t particularly new to me, I am troubled by your last paragraph.
“Darksiders 2’s framerate appears to be on par, hovering in the 10 to 20 frames-per-second range” How is this possible, let alone “on par”? Darksiders 1 ran at a glitzy, 60+fps, hence screen tearing since most TVs are 60hz (game was moving faster than the TV could render so the screen tears). But, 10-20fps is near broken and unplayable, ESPECIALLY for an action game. I think you might be confused on what fps is. It is generally regarded that 30fps is the standard fps needed to play games without hitch, 60fps is what developers strive for, and only true gamer junkies will notice the difference between 30-60fps.
So I think you should rephrase that statement, no way the game is operating between 10-20fps, it’d be near unplayable. Based on the game’s graphics, Darksiders 1, and gameplay videos so far, I’d say the range is more 45-55fps.
