On the first screenshot above, they have clicked on a place which highlights the roads most likely to be needed when getting to that place (so you can read the required street names). It’s actually much clearer than it was when you look around.
The worst part for me is the little icons everywhere – I hated that about Apple Maps and I hate it on Google Maps now, hopefully it’s just a layer that can be turned off in settings.
Google Now is all about you… so your life must be full of useless junk.
I’m travelling in Russia at the moment, automatically comes up with local weather, time back home (phone switched to local time), currency conversion, sights to see, translation widget (which you really need in Russia), flight when I’m leaving… Also tells me that the team I support has a match tomorrow.
