Would be awesome if so… but I think that is more about universal notifications coming across Apple’s servers (ie if someone leaves you a Facebook message and you view it, that would clear the notice on OS X and iOS, or a missed FaceTime call) as opposed to a local notification being pushed directly to your computer (ie an incoming traditional phone call, or an sms message).

It would be cool if there was a way to utilize this service to connect phone alert’s to our computers running OS X or Windows. Would love to see if someone was calling me as an alert on my desktop.

You’re right… Thanks for reminding me! I was trying to remember which version of OS X followed that trajectory (and it was even under Steve Jobs!) I did some sleuthing to prove your point:
