It is the waterproof version yes.
It is a tad blocky, nothing untoward though. Definitely usable, screen is not best, camera is above par but not amazing GS4 or iPhone 5 level.

A score of 8.1 I see what you did there.
Windows has me interested a lot, it’s just the apps that I personally use on a day-to-day basis aren’t there. There are alternatives, I don’t want to use them as their do not provide me the functions I use.

Could be a cultural thing. Take the mickey is UK slang, I’m guessing that tylsermyler isn’t from here, thus they would not have encountered it before.
So instead of being obnoxious, how about we help others understand our colloquial terms.

You make it sound like the screen on the XZ kills a kitten every time you look at it.
It really isn’t that bad, I have had experience with the competition before you claim otherwise, yes, it’s far from the best display out there, but it’s useable. Should they have put a better display in there, probably. I’m still of the opinion that the screen cover they install in the factory also causes some issues.

Black levels aren’t as good as a Super AMOLED display, nor are they actually as good as an iPhone 5 but they are more than adequate for use as a daily driver.
For your own benefit it’s worth finding one locally to have a look at, although if you’re US based that’ll be harder to accomplish.
I’m currently using one with CyanogenMod 10.1 and it flies through most anything. Not Nexus 4 level but still useable.

A 5.9" display in the supposed size of this device, according to these leaks, would be like this! For reference the One is next to it.

Yes. I’m currently running CyanogenMod on my Nexperia Z. If I could get a version of this phone where it was, from a software point of view a Nexus I’d sell this and buy that in a heartbeat.

Sadly ‘most’ carriers are behemoths too bloated and slow to see a good thing. With that said, if it does get to a state where all high-end Androids are available on Google Play with the ‘Nexus user Experience’ and enough people buy them, yes, they will have to accept this as an idea.
At the moment it’s going to be reserved to a select few who have either yet to buy a newer phone or just want the ease of use of having Google do the leg work to get the stock version on their phone. It’s a niche within a niche if you ask me. A really great thing for people like me, although I’m UK based, I have however already popped Cyanogenmod on my Xperia.

That’s the beauty of this though, carriers don’t have to support it. The only downside is the higher cost of entry.

Currently, this is a joy to use everyday.
To make it even more perfect, I’d like a bigger battery.
For the crazy talk moment, I’d like to be able to dock it and have it become my full desktop computer running OS X.

It’s not as bad on the white model as the black model. With that said, I’m still obsessively cleaning it.
The screen protector get really static-y lots of dust, that irks me. Apparently taking it off is considerably worse the glass doesn’t have any oleo-phobic coating at all.

Yeah. I flashed the .253 software update.
The Nav. and Status bar are now properly black. The viewing angles seem better, and there’s a section in the display settings allows for white temperature calibration.
The rest of the UI has seen some tightening and spit polish. More refined in a lot of areas. The ‘small apps’ see new icons and a larger selection, some of which are downloadable from the Play Store.
Camera is really good comparative to the Nexus 4 I also have the use of.

Annnnnd it’s still waterproof.

It really really is. It feels premium, while using virtually the same materials as the Nexus 4.
Even with the ‘bad’ display I love it. I personally prefer the aesthetics of the Nexus version of Android.
I do however feel that it is more dated than the Nexus 4. Same hardware internals, but the XZ was 4 months later.

It’s a great device, but sadly there are better phones out already.
It’s one redeeming feature is the waterproof abilities.
