I don’t know about Portland but I find this compelling [from NIH]:

“In 1945, Grand Rapids became the first city in the world to fluoridate its drinking water… During the 15-year project, researchers monitored the rate of tooth decay among Grand Rapids’ almost 30,000 schoolchildren. After just 11 years…the NIDR-announced an amazing finding. The caries [sic] rate among Grand Rapids children born after fluoride was added to the water supply dropped more than 60 percent”

Combined with the fact that there have been no apparent negative side-effects in the past half-century, I can only see “cost” as a viable reason for not adding flouride to drinking water. Modern statistics are probably complicated by the fact that many people now brush/rinse w/ flouride multiple times a day.

I agree wholeheartedly with this sentiment and am somewhat distressed by the fact it seems to be the minority. I can think of very specific applications for Glass, but as a general consumer product I don’t see the end game. Cool? Sure. Useful. No. Not even remotely.

In fairness to the article, Music Manager is far from perfect. It generally works but critically lacks the ability to upload a specific file/folder on command. When I add something new to iTunes I usually need to quit and restart both apps in order for Music Manager to recognize and upload the new tunes. Music Manager should be able to view and manage your music in the cloud. I see no reason for it’s features to be so limited.
