I have a full one year warranty for free, I can take it to an authorised repair centre and have DR cover the cost or send it back to DR if I don’t mind waiting slightly longer
I’d say definitely go for the 60D. I was faced with the same decision almost a year ago now and went for the slightly more expensive 60D and can say I have no regrets whatsoever. The additional features are just too good to miss. The battery life is a massive improvement, (2.5x better) and it doesn’t stop there. The top LCD displaying camera info is a great addition if you’re wanting to take more proffesional shots with easy and the design of the 60D body being slighly wider makes it much more comfortable to hold in your hand for long periods of time. Obviously, being a canon, there’s no video AF but that’s not always a massive problem.
The video quality you get out of the 60D is insanely good if you’re doing it properly, at TV bitrate it would look high quality no matter where you were playing it
All in all I’d say go for the 60D as it is so much cheaper nowadays it’s worth the extra few coins for all the additional features. If you were to go for the XXXD series though, you might aswell go for the 700D as it’s new and offers phase detection for AF on video.
If you’re looking for somewhere to buy camera goods from check out digitalrev.com, this is where I bought my 60D from, and it arrived within three days of ordering, very reliable service and would use them again for the cheap prices they offer.
