Not really. If they announced a bunch of games now, E3 would just be a review (like it is likely to be for PS4). If that were the case, they would have to compete on an even footing for press at E3 with the PS4. The way they have done it, they get a ton of press now, and when E3 hits, while Sony is again talking about games they have already announced like Infamous, Microsoft will be unveiling 15 exclusives and 8 new IPs. That way Microsoft will get way more attention at E3, than Sony, which is what they want.
The presentation doesn’t show where Microsoft’s focus is, it just shows that they have PR people thinking about the best way to do things.

The sluggish part of most boxes is the channel guide, nobody really minds waiting 2 seconds for the actual channel change. So it really doesn’t matter that it connects to the box.
Also the snap features, quick switch for gaming, voice controls (ever lost the remote?), etc. are all good reasons to use the Xbox instead of just the box.
This article comes across as desperate to hate the xbox. While it may not completely fix cable boxes, it does improve the situation. You need to spend less time trying to make your point, and more time coming up with a good point to make.

I have not seen a single Galaxy S4 commercial in my life, and my roommate loves having the TV on all the time. On the other hand, I have seen those obnoxious HTC commercials about their speakers just about every day for the past several months.

Actually it makes perfect sense. The government doesn’t care that you were speeding, but they will give you a ticket for it due to principle. If they didn’t, then people would stop following the law.
Same with piracy. Universal studios will never notice a single person pirating a movie, but if they have proof, they will sue due to principle.
This is actually how just about everything works. If they didn’t do this now, then when WP gets big, and this app really is a problem, they wouldn’t be able to do it then, because they didn’t now.

Have they not tried flying a second quadrocopeter up to knock it out of place?

Am i missing something? How can they say it doesn’t look overly durable when the only thing they can see is the screen? The rest is in some temporary case… What would it have to look like to qualify as durable, a rock instead of a screen?

If he knew it was SWAT then arming himself in the first place was about the dumbest thing in the world. Even if you disregard the fact that SWAT is on your side, do you really think 10 guys with ARs in tactical gear are gonna go “Oh shit, he has a shotgun, we surrender!”

No, then we would have swattinging, where you mask your phone as somebody else and then swat someone. It would be like swatting, but instead of the swat busting down your victim’s door, they would beat the shit out of em.

The fact that you are on this website means you have probably bought a smartphone. That smartphone was almost guaranteed to have been made by people who are essentially slaves, and you supported the system that causes them to be treated that way. That is a pretty big deal. You should probably go to jail for the rest of your life.

You’re absolutely right. The LAPD probably has no idea what they are talking about. It isn’t like they deal with the problem of copycats every single day. No no, you and the verge probably have a much better understanding of the impacts of posting information about swatting than the people who chase those that do it every single day.

Right, something that is in no way attempted murder should be treated as “nothing less” than attempted murder. That is an excellent way to build a legal system. That’s like saying driving a car should be treated as no less than attempted murder because if things go wrong someone could get murdered.

Police don’t gun down families hiding in closets. They also shout “POLICE!!!” to stop this exact situation whenever they are entering a house.
Also, if there are ever 10 people in tactical gear outside your house, even if you don’t see the writing POLICE on their backs, it is not likely to be some dude trying to break in.

“The problem is so bad that the LAPD stopped publishing reports of swatting”
This pull quote, in an article that not only publishes many reports of swatting but also tells you exactly how easy it is to do, and even how to mask your phone number to do it…….
