I could talk about fonts, abstract art (the only REAL art outside of graphic design really), personal electronics, and social media for hours. I feel like these things really define our post modern reality.

That’s the sad thing about the reboot. Obviously a film series that continued the stories introduced in DS9 would just flop because there simply are not enough nerds to support it, but the large arcs in DS9 left things open for some really intriguing new stories. Perhaps there will be another series one day…
I’ve never been to a convention, but after hearing that the actors that played Garak and Bashir did improv based on their little lunch/dinner conversations, I was quite disappointed I missed that. Both great actors, and for me some of the best acting and dialog of the whole series.

First I heard about it.
That’s hard to believe. Are you sure you’re not being hip and pretending not to know about it?
What does 1776 even mean?
Wow. Really?
Hint: It’s a year. Something happened in that year in the country where the tower resides.

Except TV towers don’t have a habit of collapsing during storms, nor do they rely on an elaborate system of landlines to connect back to the source.

Also it doesn’t scream “I am carrying a very expensive laptop, please yoink my bag!”.
I still have a swiss army backpack stowed away somewhere (hemp and leather, WWII) that I bought at a gun show (and I’m not a gun person, long story). When I got my first job in NYC in ‘95 that was my bag. It looked sketchy, but it also really didn’t give the impression there was anything particularly worth stealing in it.

Ridiculously hilarious article!
I was thinking more sad than hilarious.
Home schooling, man. I feel sorry for Mr. Miller. Teachers know how to teach. Schools socialize you to peers. Most home-schoolers are not teachers. Maybe it’s different where Mr. Miller is from, but around here it’s just religious nuts unwilling to let their kids learn science.
Nothing moving to New York City, getting a therapist, working your first “real” job, and then going to college for real won’t fix though. Assuming the internet doesn’t distract too much… :)
