That is claiming I’m a “hater” just because I don’t like a design that you like since it is obviously impossible to explain “objectively” a subjective perception. Some people like it. Others don’t like it.

People like you don’t seem to get what open discussion forums are for. To discuss things and to state opinions. You can state your opinion but you have to deal with the fact that there other people who state other opinions. So I can also state my opinion as I see fit. If you don’t like it move to some place where you can talk to yourself or other sect members.

Demanding to explain “objectively” a subjective perceiption like personal taste makes no sense whatsoever. You like the new desktop look. I don’t. I’m not saying that I would want to keep Aero Glass absolutely. But I think the new look is boring. I would prefer the design by Sputnik8 for the desktop. This looks gorgeous. This is my subjective opinion. Your opinion is not more “objective” than mine.

BTW While we are at it I think Metro itself could be better but it is ok on a 7" or 10" tablet or on a Windows Phone (I have one). But I have installed the Win8 CP and I don’t like using full screen Metro apps on my 27" monitor. Also I don’t like to navigate the Metro menu with a mouse. It slows me down when I have to work. And don’t tell me about workarounds. I want to work not workaround.

For the record I have used all Microsoft OS from MS-DOS up to Windows 7. I even belonged to the minority who actually used Vista. I was always open for new interface designs. Yes back than I liked the Aero glass look more than the dated XP look. But I’m still open for changes. Yet I will not install Windows 8 on my desktop if I don’t have to. It will be the first time I will probably skip a Windows version.

When the new look is the one in the screen shot at the top I see little difference to uglier and ugliest.

This is getting old. The step from 7.0 to 7.5 was rather tiny.

ICS is a major OS upgrade. Let’s bash Android again if we get WP8 for all our WP7.5 phones.

At least many Android phones are known to get ICS. Whether I will ever get WP8 for my Omnia 7 is still unclear.

If Windows 8 on desktop is about not seeing Metro how about an option to disable it altogether? I have no use for it on the desktop. It slows me down.
