Ah, yes! Now I see the connection.

We must be talking about two different Settings icons (it changed in ICS)…cause I definitely don’t see a similarity.

My guess is he has the original droid – I dealt with that limitation way too long. So glad my Galaxy Nexus has all of its storage built-in…super fast and don’t have to worry about space.

Think of the “curvy blue lines” as making a funnel…it is showing that all the Apps listed above fit “into” the space highlighted by the funnel.

In the first there is no curvy line on the left because it goes straight down because the Apps are taking up ALL of the space highlighted in blue (63MB). If this still doesn’t make sense I will draw you a diagram later tonight and post. Think of it as a genie in a bottle…the apps are coming up out of the storage bar at the bottom of the screen…

Agree…definitely not as intuitive (at first) as they should be. Cut makes sense, copy isn’t too bad, but the icon for select all could use some improvement (IMO). I also wish I could select text and copy…then select some other text and paste – but there is no Paste button! Rather, I have to select the destination text, hit delete, press and hold for Paste option, then click Paste.

By the way, you can press and hold an icon to get a tooltip explaining what the icon is.

1. The Settings icon is just showing “option sliders”…think about what the Volume settings look like, or the screen brightness. It is just showing 3 of those option sliders.

2. The blue bar in the first screenshot is showing how much space the apps you are viewing (“ALL”) use on Internal Storage. In this case 63MB of your ~199MB of Internal Storage space dedicated to apps is in use. You have more Internal Storage on other partitions (for the O/S, cache, etc.) but that space is not being shown here – only the portion available for App Storage.

3. The blue bar in the second screenshot is showing how much space the apps you are viewing (“ON SD CARD”) use on your SD Card’s space. Your SD Card is about 1.8GB (formatted) and 1.1GB of that is currently being used (so you have 743MB of free space on your SD Card). Of the 1.1GB you have photos, music, videos, apps, and more. The diagram is showing how much of your used space (1.1GB) is being used specifically for App Storage (looks to be about 11% – so ~121MB). So, overall, you have about 63+121 = 184MB of Apps and App Data installed.

Aaron – when you attempted to replicate the issue was your Apple registered email address in the iPhones address book? Because, in my case my email is registered with Apple and so I could see kenton’s observation as possibly being my issue. Thanks everybody for the responses.

As others have mentioned, this only happened to me during the 10 cent sale. Yes, it is your bank denying the charges due to concerns of Fraud…just call them.

AWESOME SCRIPT. Thank you, now I can stop using the mobile site on my desktop. Expand in place is great.

I am not a fan of the layout of the main desktop page, either…so I actually have the mobile version of the site bookmarked, instead. My primary annoyance with the desktop site is never knowing where I left off reading the last time…especially since articles move around sometimes (highlighted one day, not the next, and then highlighted again). I agree with a lot of what the OP said. I have no problems reading WSJ.com or nytimes.com, there is just something about The Verge’s layout that makes my eyes dart all over the place (it might be because everything is SO BIG…for example on forum pages I can only read the first line of the actual post before scrolling because the title is HUGE and ads/buttons across the top are huge – do I really need the breadcrumb (Forums > META) to be an inch tall???).

The layout of the mobile site fits my taste much better…not great but at least it is better. Unfortunately, the mobile site doesn’t have a link to the forums…which annoys the heck out of me. Also, more importantly, if you click MORE at the bottom of the mobile site, continue to read down, then click an article to read it…once you click “back” the page doesn’t remember how many times you hit MORE so it rolls them all back up – so you have to hit MORE, multiple times, and scan with your eyes to figure out where you left off. Quite aggravating.
