For one, it sounds like “Pre Crime”.
Secondly, even if it did stop some terrorist motives, that doesn’t necessarily justify it. I’m sure they’d say if the NSA/FBI/Police would go door to door on a weekly basis with warrantless searches and rooting out evil, that we’d all be a bit “safer”. However, that sure as hell doesn’t mean that it’s a good thing. Is it worth it?
There is a line that you cross where liberties and freedom should be retained, at the loss of some type of “mythical security”. See the movies V for Vendeta or Equilibrium if want to know how far the government/military would love to take things.

Tivo could have been amazing if they just built an app store and had some type of API like the Roku, etc. It’s absurd that Tivo hasn’t figured this out yet after so many years and with a box that costs $600-700 after all the monthly fees, etc. They’re ridiculously expensive for how little you get.
I really feel like Tivo must have fired most of the developers at some point and gone into nothing but “marketing-mode” for the last 5+ years.

Interesting about Newsblur. It does look like you can have a running convo with friends there in their sample. Though it also appears that public comments could really cause it to look cluttered with alot of scrolling. What happens if 50 people publicly comment on a story? Can you hide the public comments?
Until Feedly creates a native website and has commenting/sharing with friends within the network, I’m not interested. There are going to be better options.

Feedly does require a plugin to run on the desktop. The only criteria that Feedly matches on my list is #2. That’s it.

What I’m looking for:
1. A website that I don’t have to install a plugin on my browser to use
2. A mobile app/api (1st party or 3rd party through API)
3. Friending/Sharing/Commenting system built into the website/app (like the old Google Reader)
It seems I can find all of the features above, but not all three at the same time….Come on developers! You can do this!

They’ve got to do something with the servers that bought back in the day when they were popular. They’re just sitting there rotting away right now.

I’d be interesting to hear if the Verge can get stats on where the article was linked from, and would share that info as a relevant data point with this article.

This is why you don’t elect people that don’t have a proven track record regardless of their party’s affiliation. Elect people that have an actual voting history on just about every topic. Words are baseless from politicians. They’ll say anything to get elected. It’s their voting record you have to concern yourself with.
What was Obama’s voting record on spy programs as a Senator? Did he change his stance from that? I doubt anyone knows. All voters seemed to know is they liked what he said, and he’d be an historically elected president.
