I just don’t get why they consider it “stealing” or why they even care. When you’re watching Aereo, you are watching the exact SAME programming the TV station is putting out over the airwaves, just not watching it on a TV set in your home, utilizing a signal provided by an (gasp-for FREE) antenna. or cable or satellite provider that the TV station is being paid by.
You are watching the SAME exact programming, the SAME exact commercials, everything, Aereo is not making any modifications to the programming other than zapping for you if you use their DVR feature, but you can do that at home on your DVR. Maybe that’s where the disconnect comes in, you can’t zap when using an antenna but you can when you use a DVR, and if you’re using a DVR, they are being paid for the signal.
No, that isn’t right either, since you can watch TV on a computer using a USB tuner whose software comes with DVR features including zapping. So in the end, I just don’t get why they are so upset, their programming is being watched, commercials are being watched, the only difference is that people are getting to watch it on their smartphones and tablets. What’s so wrong with that?
The author ignores the fact they sold 47 million iPhones in the last quarter, a HUGE and unprecedented number, which could possibly had some sort of an effect on the number they sold this quarter.
