I hope they improve on the performance though. It suffers from a bit of lag that compromises its usability. Love the UI though.

Outlook to me has better integration and UI, but features wise it’s less developed than GMail.
I’m also a pretty big fan of Labs… since it launched in Gmail.

It’s not that it needs to look like Windows Phone. It’s the fact that it’s a much weaker implementation of the Metro design language that Zune, Windows Phone and Xbox really pioneered. And you did get the point – Windows 8 really should’ve included more elements from these previous products. It’s obvious they were going for WP style tiles, however, and it really doesn’t match up with Windows Phone’s aesthetic.

Add better visual cues, make use of vertical lists, improve the animations, and make everything flow better.

It works fine now in Windows 8, but it also has something to do with your trackpad hardware and software too.
The synaptics plastic touchpad I have on my 3820TG (Acer) sucks, while the one on my brother’s Samsung… whatever, I just know it’s a 15 inch laptop, is glass and feels really good with plenty of space and performs really well.

Still the terrible clusterfuck (ironically it’s not cluttered enough) that is Xbox Music.
Essentially the music side of WMP with only minor elements borrowed from Zune.

You seriously don’t think Google should be able to choose which platforms it supports?
Was responding to that ^
Also, there’s tons of apps on iOS and Windows Phone that allow downloading. MS’s YouTube app definitely isn’t the first.
EDIT: OHWAIT YOU AREN’T BILLYSITCH.

It’s annoying to do two actions versus one, and what’s hidden is rather inconsistent. I keep most of the things on my desktop hidden, if not everything, but that’s because I have keyboard shortcuts at hand.
Metro in Windows 8 is pretty annoying to have to swipe, then right click and then press something. It could be implemented a lot better with more useful button layouts, though. It’s not that it can’t work, but too many apps don’t take use of it.
Also, have you noticed the giant attraction to a ultrawidespread layout of tiles and little text? I never like that about Windows 8.

When something as widely used as YouTube is in concern, then yes.
You’re pretty much either obligated to produce an app or to let others produce an app.
