Google isn’t a garaged based startup They are a publicly traded multinational corporation. Their legal advisors certainly require that all employees affirm and comply with a detailed business conduct policy. I’m sure it contains more than three words.

The (cheap) plastic allow access to internals. If you want a swappable battery or an economical SD card slot, plastic is the way to go.
