Do people actually stack home theater units? Possibly the biggest/heaviest device in my setup is my Onkyo amplifier, and there are tons of perforations across the top for heat (and a lot of it) to escape. That practically told me it wasn’t for stacking…

I don’t see how being publicly traded somehow impedes their ability to work on non-profit projects. Every company does this, it’s called CSR.
Hey, if you haven’t already realised, the execs at Google are people too. Just because they don’t tell you what deeds they do doesn’t mean they don’t do it. Firms like Google.org and Google Foundation are separate subsidiaries formed solely to work on non-profit projects, which wouldn’t have made sense if they’re only seeking for profit.
Going by your logic, I’m guessing they developed Google Crisis Map and Person Finder so more people would be saved from natural disasters so they can browse Google and contribute to the ad revenue?

Not to mention the first Tegra, which was launched with all the “PROCESSOR BY NVIDIA!!!” hoo-haa, but couldn’t even keep up with 1080p playback. With such a history, I find it difficult to trust Tegra chips now.

I don’t think Windows ‘sleeps’ the same way an iPad does. With mobile OSes, ‘sleep’ merely means turn off the display but applications can still continue to run. Windows pauses all applications when it goes to sleep (with the exception of some syncs with the new connected features), so it takes longer to wake back up.

Even if you’re not often remote, the efficiency of new chips means you’ll be drawing less power from the wall. It benefits everyone regardless of situation.

Atom may be bad, but I think Pentium and (especially) Celeron left an even more sour taste in the mouth. I still remember my old desktop with a Pentium D chip, and it was absolutely horrible. The heat and noise were definitely not missed when I upgraded to Core i7 much later.

Yup. And if Apple pulls off a great looking new UI, that’ll push Google/OEMs to up the ante with their UIs as well. Everyone wins.

… Wait, what do you mean that’s not iOS? You mean the original UI has been changed in software?
