Great game, love it, will probably rinse hundreds of hours from it in the coming years……but it’s FAR from a 10/10 due to the online requirement which is at times gamebreaking. I have a beastly PC, it runs at 1440p without breaking a sweat (it’s hardly the most demanding game anyway) but latency issues are very real and very bad.
I have a fast, stable, (expensive!) net connection. If you play it before 3pm here in the UK latency is about 25, fine, with exceptionally rare (but still there) lag spikes. After 3pm, latency dips to 200 and beyond, at which point your character occasionally teleports across the screen, health globes sometimes don’t pickup and there’s occasionally input lag between pressing a key and the action completing.
Everyone I know who’s playing it irl, and lots of people I know on the net from all around the country experience the same thing. Don’t merely dismiss it simply because you, luckily, may not have experienced it. Equally, blaming my net connection, bah, it ain’t that.
Sure, these issues might dissipate once player numbers drop off, but the promise of things to come doesn’t make it any less real right now.
Still love it, just wish there was an offline mode.
