I have the late 2008 first gen 15" unibody MBP, 2.4GHz. I put in 8GB of RAM (up from 4) and a 128GB Crucial M4. It’s still kicking! But as soon as the 15" Haswell rMBP comes out, well… I imagine you can picture my bank account the day it’s released. I finally have enough to buy a new one.
That said, mine does choke when you try to open multiple tabs in quick succession and any video chats get the CPU to at least 50%. Fans ramp up right quick. But other than that it’s still just fine for a daily web browsing machine.

On sites like Engadget, the downvote button was bad. Legitimate/constructive posts got downvoted like crazy because of fanboys, trolls, etc. I, for one, am thankful that The Verge does not have downvotes.

God damn that battery is small. Seriously? You’d think for a device that size, you’d be able to fit a bigger battery. I mean, 4000mAh for a 5" phone with a 1080p screen would be awesome, but this is a 7" screen we’re talking about here. I think no matter what they do it will have disappointing battery life. Looking forward to seeing if this is legitimately the new Nexus 7.

It’s just the lens rattling, and no it will not go away. Just ignore it. You are not damaging it, that’s just how it sounds, unfortunately. Don’t shake it around and you’re good.

I’d be willing to put money on the fact that Fish will never work with Microsoft on anything game related ever again, given his frustration and difficulty with them the first time around.

No. Legitimately thought-provoking comments and someone challenging the public opinion can get downvoted like crazy because fanboys and the like love to label it as “trolling” and all you end up seeing are the praise posts. Engadget had this problem terribly a few years back, then they switched to Disqus where you can only upvote. I like it this way.

You can get the SB6121 on Amazon and Newegg for ~$65 these days. Great modem, haven’t had to reboot it once since getting it.

No it doesn’t. If you want a good TV it’s gonna run you $1000 tops unless you’re going for a top of the line, super thin TV. You can easily get a decent 42" LCD for $500.

I have a 6 year old PC with a Q6600 and a GTX260 with 6GB of RAM and you know what? It runs new games on high settings at stable >30fps framerates with no problem. It was about $800 after all was said and done, but it’s lasted me a long time. I probably won’t be upgrading until sometime next year. Maybe when Broadwell comes out.

THIS. I doubt Microsoft will support MKVs. The PS4 will most likely support tons of containers out of the box. The PS3 is a great media center and I’d expect the PS4 to be no different.

It’s not always about the internet being affordable, but being available. I know plenty of people who only live 10-15 miles outside of Minneapolis and they can’t get anything better than 1.5Mbps DSL. It’s kind of sad. And then I sit at my apartment with 50Mbps and talk about how the online checks aren’t a problem.

Personally I will continue to buy discs unless the digital download is cheaper, because I can copy a disk with 15GB of data to my hard drive a lot quicker than I can download it. When I get the game, I want to play it.

Was sad that they didn’t show a new retina MacBook Pro, but I suppose I could stand to save up more money for it. Fingers crossed for a matte black rMBP in a few months.
Also: I love Android, but iOS 7 almost makes me want to defect. Soooo sexy.

Technically, you still have to download the game on the other console. Even if you can play while it’s downloading, it still has to be completely downloaded. I would bring over the disc and install it like that, if possible.

Most flagship phones support the APT-X codec already. See if your headphones/car has it. It enables high quality Bluetooth audio.

Couldn’t you just run some 91% isopropyl along the trim with a q-tip and make it all pretty white again? Or would that not remove it? Definitely not putting bleach on my phone…
