Well those app might be on Android, but for the most part those apps have been all playing catch up with Google. Why switch when MS have tended to be behind the curve?
Those apps have some pretty popular alternatives.
I’m not saying I wouldn’t use MS’s solutions, I’m just saying they have been playing catch up with Google for a while in the internet space.

Because American culture is structured to favor white, heterosexual, males.
Not as much as it was 100 years ago, but those inequalities didn’t just disappear because state sponsored racism was ended.

Yes and no. Strictly dollars wise, yes they need to make the money back.
But if they can turn Skype into something of value like RIM/BlackBerry did with BBM, Google with Google Talk or Apple with iMessage, it’d be hard to put a price onto the that, but clearly those are all messaging services that are important to each platform. But it be hard to put a dollar value on any of those clients.

Maybe for racing, but honestly the automobile is primarily used for transportation.
Gas cars won’t go anywhere anytime soon, but landlines haven’t gone anywhere either. It’s just cell phones and electric is the path phones are working on.

I know it’s fun to act better then everyone else(particularly when they aren’t making the best choice), but why not explain that statement. He did ask.
Beat Audio headphones are overpriced for what you get. You can headphones that cost less and sound better.

Spotify is still not nearly as complete as iTunes or Amazon is.
I use spotify daily, but they don’t have The Beatles. That’s one reason I’d store music locally. Again, not a deal breaker, but I see why that feature would be useful.

I disagree. I’d actually say AT&T(or Verizon) making this move is the best thing we could hope for. T Mobile, Sprint or any small carrier is expected to be cheaper, if AT&T feels it needs to lower it’s pricing, perhaps the small guys are starting to shake the bigger players.

It’s a large mistake to write someone off because they fit into your stereotype.
You can argue this guy will be a bad FCC head. But arguing that on his age alone is foolish.

You put caps lock on for a comment The Verge never made.
The head of the FCC is a very powerful person. Of the 7 billion humans on the planet, this guy(assuming he clears the Senate) is easily in the top half of 1% of the world populations for those with great power. (which is still 1 out of five million people)

How is Dish not an “outsider”? They certainly don’t have a spot in the wireless world currently?
The only question(for me) is “would dish invest in a 3rd national network to the same level that SoftBank would”?
If they would, they are offering more money per share, which is a clear win. The question is "is the long term equal or better?

You’re “purely rational” thought process allows for the elimination of human rights. It doesn’t encourage it, but the thought of “well, enjoy it while you can” is passive acceptance.
Lots of “human rights” have only been around for the last few hundred years, should we not be surprised when they disappear? Voting for our leaders is a fairly new idea. Freedom of speech is fairly new. Hell the personal computer is fairly new?
Should we just enjoy those until they disappear too?

Yes, it is. One you can opt out of(as difficult as it may be, it’s as least somewhat possible) and the other is state actions you can’t avoid(or at least that’s the goal)
To be fair, both are concerning…but the NYPD’s actions seem far more invasive then Google’s.

Fully agree. I don’t have any issue paying sales tax on goods purchased from the internet, it seems reasonable, I’d be paying that sales tax if the internet wasn’t around. I’m willing to pay my part.
But you have to make it straight forward, attach it to cost when I pay for my product, it’s less hassle for me and more people end up paying the tax. Honestly, I’m not even certain how I’d go about paying sales taxes for internet purchases(I could google it, but it’s a tax, it should be straight forward!)

You consented by living in our society. Like it or not, you receive benefits from the government’s actions.
Let’s assume you went to a private school for your education, you still receive the benefit of educated fellow citizens. Even if you are never the victim of a crime, the police still offer security for others, thereby keeping the peace. Even if your home never burns down, the fire department stopping other homes from burning down helps keep social order.
Society is connected, even if you want to be an Island, you’re not.

I fully agree the government mismanages tons of things, but given it’s size, that doesn’t shock me.
For me, the good the government does(public education, police, fire departments, roads, etc…to name a few), I’m fully on board with everyone paying sales taxes at every purchase.
I can understand opposing sale tax in all cases(I disagree, but I can understand it), but supporting it in physical stores but not online just seems like a strange double standard.
