Again, PCSX2 works pretty well for emulating PS2…You’re quite correct about it not being about the machine but instead about the coding of the emulator. Remember when everyone thought emulating the Nintendo 64 was “impossible?” Then someone turns around and releases a near full speed emulator. The same thing happened with Dreamcast and Chankast – which abruptly died after release (not unlike the Dreamcast itself). There was always someone who said it was impossible because the system is too powerful or too specialized until someone else turns around and just does it.
I buy Microsoft’s argument about return of investment. I just don’t care for the way they said it. It just seems intentionally inflammatory. I must be one of those rare breeds that plays PS2 games on their PS3 and Gamecube games on the Wii (You can play both at good speed on Dolphin, BTW). Silly me, not wanting to jiggle around the whole entertainment center configuration if I feel like playing an older game I guess.
