Toshiba has introduced three new HD camcorders for budding filmmakers and home movie enthusiasts, looking to appeal to customers through budget-friendliness and large zooms. For $229.99 you get the Camileo X200, which features a 12x optical zoom and a 20x advanced zoom — since the 8-megapixel sensor is overkill for 1080p video, the camcorder crops out a part of that sensor, giving you the same number of pixels in a close-up view. If you want no-nonsense magnification, you can step up to the $279.99 Camileo X400, which includes a 23x optical zoom as well as the same microphone jack and 3-inch LCD touchscreen as its little brother. Both of these camcorders feature expandable memory through the usual SD/SDHC/SDXC cards — a necessity given their paltry 128MB of internal memory. The $319.99 Camileo X416 remedies that by including 16GB of memory along with the specs of the X400. The X200 and X400 are available now, while the X416 was to be released on October 10th, but shows no signs of availability.
