We noticed Siri says some pretty bizarre things in our iPhone 4S review, and it turns out its personality began back with its creators at SRI international. Co-founder Norman Winarsky says Siri's personality was the product of "deep thought," and "there were many conversations within the team about whether it should be gender neutral," and whether it "should have an attitude." Their work continued at Apple, who carefully designed responses to create an emotional connection with users. The result is the decidedly geeky persona with a robot voice that resides on over 4 million devices around the world. If it doesn't yet speak your language, be patient — Siri should know Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Italian, and Spanish in 2012.
